Mission Objectives
The primary mission objective was to show "that two major powers, while still competing in space, could benefit by a cooperative mission." (Page, 1977) One of the main features of the mission included the implementation of a compatible docking system which would improve safety measures with the possibility of mutual rescue in space. In addition 32 scientific experiments were conducted during the mission.
