Alexander G. Contreras Proposed Statement of Research
Alexander G. Contreras
University of Texas at El Paso

As of January 1996, I have been enrolled in the University of Texas at El Paso Masters of Science Degree Program. This first year will allow me to identify and become familiar with my planned research, enabling me to answer all questions I will have. The University of Texas at El Paso Master of Science Degree Program requires individuals to complete at least 24 hrs of course work, preselected and in accordance with the program, plus thesis related courses. Selection of course work will focus on areas of signal processing, signal theory, and communication systems. The courses I have undertaken since my enrollment in the masters programs, as well as the ones I am currently enrolled in, are preparing a foundation for my thesis topic. At present, my thesis topic will focus on signal processing as applied to communications. In addition to my current course load, I am conducting initial research end analysis. This consists of reading and analyzing various publications which deal with signal processing as applied to communications. With my present schedule, I will be able to conclude my masters program as early as summer of 1997.
