Laser Transmitter - Clementine

The Laser Tranmitter can perform high resolution altitude measurements. It is a compact, lighweight, diode pumped, Nd infrared laser that was produced by McDonnell Douglas Corporation. It was designed to provide the high energy pulses needed for ranging at lunar distances. This system was used to obtain altitude measurements durring mapping orbits around the Moon. The optics of the high recolution camera are also used as the input of a laser ranger altimeter.
