New Texas Space Grant Consortium Academic Member-TAMU Commerce August 09, 2004
It is my pleasure to welcome Texas A&M University - Commerce into the Texas Space Grant Consortium. TAMU Commerce is located in Commerce, Texas, approximately 67 miles north east of Dallas. TAMU Commerce was founded in 1889 as East Texas Normal College. It joined the TAMU system in 1996. The campus hosts over 7400 students with over 22% of them being graduate students. The campus awards over 150 BS degrees each year.
Dr. Keith West, PhD Physics from UT Dallas, has been designated as the universities representative to the Consortium. Dr. West's research interests include the roles that local time, longitude, season, and solar cycle play in the composition of the topside ionosphere, and the effects of solar eclipses on the composition of the topside ionosphere using data taken in situ by instruments on board the Atmospheric Explorer and Defense Meteorological Satellite Program.
Please join with us as we welcome these institutions into the Consortium.
