NASA wants more innovators to utilize the Nation's investment in spaceflight to grow their investments in knowledge and commerce. It invites YOU to help it do this, if you and your friends are university students into business, science, engineering, advertising & marketing, Internet solution design, public relations, graphic arts & animation, or other similar disciplines.
Your Assignment
Your assignment is to design and prepare a NASA Spaceflight Promotion Plan -- a strategy and Internet-centered implementation tools by which to effectively increase the number of people who recognize the Nation's investment in spaceflight as a valuable source of research and commercial opportunity.
The success of your NASA Spaceflight Promotion Plan will be measured in terms of how likely it is to increase the number of interested parties who actively investigate:
- using existing spaceflight infrastructure (e.g., the International Space Station National Laboratory, etc.),
- creating new spaceflight infrastructure (e.g., commercial launch vehicles, etc.), and
- participating in the expansion and growth of future spaceflight opportunities (e.g., the Constellation Program to explore the Moon and Mars, etc.).
"Interested parties" include, and are not limited to, corporate researchers, university researchers, entrepreneurs and investors.
Promotion strategies should include methods that access interested parties (a) directly through formal and informal networks, and (b) indirectly through the space enthusiast community, the general public and pop culture.
IMPORTANT: This is not an exercise to revamp NASA's spaceflight programs. Rather, the goal is to make more people aware that its spaceflight capabilities exist, are available for use outside of NASA, and hold opportunity for creative and energetic innovators.
