Community College Aerospace Scholars (CAS) 2013-2014 is looking for Texas community college students. The deadline for submitting an application is Monday, January 20, 2014. The Community College Aerospace Scholars (CAS) is the educational program for you. CAS is for community college students from across the state of Texas. As a CAS student, you will participate in graded web-based modules. Based on your module grades and completed applications, qualified students will be chosen to attend the three day onsite experience at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX. With this experience you will have the chance to tour Johnson Space Center (JSC) and interact with NASA engineers and scientists. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with community college students from across the state of Texas and participate in the engineering design challenges. Who is eligible to participate?

Community college students from across Texas will compete to become a Community College Aerospace Scholar. To participate, you must be:

• A US Citizen.
• At least 18 year of age and a high school graduate.
• A Texas resident.
• Must have at least a 2.0 GPA
• A registered community college student during the application process and program.
• Enrolled with at least 9 hrs and have a cumulative of 9 hours in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) fields.
• Able to commit to a six month relationship with NASA JSC, including a two-day experience at NASA.
• Able to complete requirements established by your community college district.
• Must obtain a 70 average on the online modules.

What will you do as an Aerospace Scholar?

CAS consists of two primary components:

Graded web-based activities including:

• Twenty hours of pre-work online
• Online interaction with participants on space exploration.

On-site experience at NASA including:

• Engineering design challenges directed by NASA engineers/scientists
• Briefings by NASA Engineers/Scientists
• Tour of NASA JSC facilities through Space Center Houston.
